I just replaced a printer and have new instant ink for my old printer. Can I exchange them?

Sorry, No.

Instant Ink cartridges only work with an active subscription.

The cartridges remain the property of HP.

After the subscription is terminated for any reason, all Instant Ink / Subscription cartridges should be returned to HP.

 

What?

You never owned the ink - it was supplied as part of the print-by-page plan.

and

Selling the ink yourself won't work - the cartridges are locked against outside use.
