had a boxed hp office jet 8100 printer in office.  unboxed it and purchased a new hp ink cartridges 950 and951 as the ink that came with the printer had been in there for a couple of years and was afraid to use.  when I the just purchased cartridges and loaded the printer the panel on the printer still indicates the cartridges are empty and the color letters on bottom are blinking.  why isnt it showing full cartridges?

HP Recommended

For the first printer initialization, you need to use ink cartridges that are included with the new printer. Store purchased ink cartridge will not work after first power ON.
