Hi @Gefdcs,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it must be to deal with faded printouts, especially after replacing the drum and toner. Let’s go through a series of troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue:

1. Check Toner Level & Shake Cartridge

  • If the toner is low, refilling it might be necessary.
  • Remove the toner cartridge and gently shake it side to side to distribute the toner evenly.
  • Reinsert the cartridge properly and ensure it clicks into place.

2. Verify Print Density & Toner Save Mode Settings

  • Open HP Smart App or Printer Settings on the computer.
  • Go to Advanced Settings > Print Density and increase the value.
  • Disable Toner Save Mode (if enabled), as it reduces toner usage and may cause faded prints.

3. Check Paper Type & Condition

  • Use HP-recommended LaserJet paper, as some paper types absorb toner poorly.
  • Load the paper correctly (typically smoother/glossier side facing up).
  • Ensure the paper is clean, wrinkle-free, and not too rough.

4. Run Printer Cleaning Modes

A. Clean the Toner Cartridge (via HP Smart App)

  1. Open HP Smart App → Click your printer.
  2. Go to Advanced Settings → Open Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  3. Navigate to System > Service > Cartridge Cleaning Mode and click Start.
  4. Wait for the cleaning process to finish.

B. Clean the Fuser Unit (If Toner Specks or Streaks Are Present)

  1. Ensure paper is loaded in the tray.
  2. Open HP Smart App → Go to Advanced Settings > Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  3. Navigate to System > Service > Fuser Cleaning Mode and click Start.
  4. Press the Resume button when prompted, and let the printer complete the cleaning cycle.

5. Update Printer Firmware

  • Open HP Smart App → Advanced Settings > Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  • Navigate to System > Administration > Printer Updates and click Check Now.
  • Install any available updates.

Final Step: Test Print

  • Try printing a document with different print quality settings (Draft, Normal, Best).
  • Check if the fading issue persists.

If the issue continues after these steps, let me know what changes you observed! 😊

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
