My printer works, but I just get a lot of greenish color instead of black, and my color ink will print a lot of

greenish yellow and no red or pink or mauve or brown tones.

Hi @Shelzone,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Here are some troubleshooting steps to fix the issue:

1. Check Ink Levels

  • Open the HP Smart app or your printer's control panel to check ink levels.
  • If the black or color cartridge is low, replace or refill it.

2. Clean Printhead (Automatic Cleaning)

  • On your printer’s touchscreen:
    1. Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
    2. Follow on-screen instructions and print a test page.
    3. If the issue persists, run the cleaning cycle 2-3 times.

3. Print a Diagnostic Page

  • Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page:
    • Go to Settings > Reports > Print Quality Report.
    • Check if cyan, magenta, and yellow colors are missing or faded.
    • If magenta is missing, it could be why your prints look greenish.

4. Check for Clogged Ink Nozzles (Manual Cleaning)

  • Remove the color ink cartridge and gently clean the printhead with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Let it dry for a few minutes, then reinstall it.

5. Align the Printer

  • Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Align Printhead.
  • Follow the prompts and print an alignment page.

6. Use Genuine HP Ink

  • If you're using third-party ink, it may cause color issues.
  • Replace with genuine HP ink cartridges for best results.

7. Update Printer Firmware & Drivers

Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

8. Perform a Factory Reset (Last Resort)

If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍
