Hi @wocnrn,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 2700 printer is not showing up in the devices list on your laptop, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Connections:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your laptop via USB cable or through a wireless network connection (Wi-Fi).
  • If using a USB connection, try using a different USB port on your laptop or try a different USB cable to rule out any connection issues.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your printer and your laptop. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.

Verify Printer Status:

  • Check the printer itself to ensure it is powered on and not displaying any error lights or messages. Make sure there is paper in the tray and that there are no paper jams.

Check Printer Network Connection (if applicable):

  • If your printer is connected wirelessly, check the Wi-Fi connection on the printer. Ensure it is connected to the correct network and that the network signal is strong.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Sometimes, reinstalling the printer drivers can help resolve communication issues between the printer and the laptop.
  • Go to the HP website, search for your printer model (HP DeskJet 2700), and download the latest drivers for your operating system. Install them on your laptop and follow any on-screen instructions.

Add Printer Manually (if necessary):

  • If the printer still does not appear in the devices list, you can try adding it manually:
    • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
    • Click on Add a printer or scanner and follow the on-screen instructions to add your HP DeskJet 2700 printer.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that your laptop has the latest Windows updates installed. Sometimes updates can include fixes for printer connectivity issues.

Check Printer Sharing Settings (if applicable):

  • If you are using printer sharing on a network, ensure that sharing settings are correctly configured on both the printer and your laptop.

Reset Printer (if needed):

  • As a last resort, you can reset your HP DeskJet 2700 printer to factory settings. Refer to the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
