Hi @Mc10001,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue where your HP printer is not recognizing the cartridges even though it should be enrolled in HP Instant Ink. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Verify HP Instant Ink Enrollment
Check Enrollment Status:
- HP Account: Log in to your HP Instant Ink account to verify that your printer is correctly enrolled and that your Instant Ink plan is active.
Verify Printer Enrollment:
- HP Smart App: Open the HP Smart app or HP Connected website and confirm that your printer is listed under your enrolled devices.
2. Restart and Reset
Restart Devices:
- Power Cycle Printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Restart Router: Restart your router to refresh network connections.
Check for Printer Updates:
- Firmware Update: Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates using the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel.
3. Reinstall HP Instant Ink Cartridges
Remove and Reinstall Cartridges:
- Power Off Printer: Turn off the printer.
- Remove Cartridges: Open the cartridge access door and carefully remove the cartridges.
- Clean Contacts: Check the metal contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer for any dust or residue and clean them gently with a lint-free cloth.
- Reinstall Cartridges: Reinstall the cartridges, making sure they are securely seated.
Power On Printer:
- Turn On: Power the printer back on and check if the issue is resolved.
4. Re-enroll Printer in HP Instant Ink
Remove and Re-add Printer:
- HP Smart App: Open the HP Smart app, remove the printer from your account, and then re-add it.
- Follow Setup: Follow the setup prompts to ensure the printer is properly re-enrolled.
HP Instant Ink Website:
- Manage Printer: Log in to your HP Instant Ink account on the HP website, remove the printer, and then add it again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
