Hi @CraigKH,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet Pro 8035 is only printing black despite installing brand-new cartridges and following troubleshooting steps, there are a few potential causes and solutions you can try.

  • Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed. Sometimes, they may not click into place securely. Remove them and reinsert them firmly.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Remove the cartridges and clean the contacts gently with a soft, lint-free cloth. Make sure there's no residue or debris on them.
  • Printer Head Alignment: Run a printer head alignment process. This ensures that the printer is properly calibrated to print in color. You can usually find this option in the printer's settings menu.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause printing issues. You can usually update drivers through your computer's device manager or by downloading them from the HP website.
  • Check Printer Settings: Make sure that the printer settings haven't been inadvertently set to "Black and White" or "Grayscale." Ensure that the printer is set to print in color.
  • Printer Firmware Update: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes firmware updates can address printing issues.
  • Check Ink Levels: Verify that the color cartridges have ink in them. A new cartridge might be faulty or dried up.
  • Printer Reset: Try resetting the printer to its factory defaults. This can sometimes resolve software glitches causing printing problems.

By going through these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue of your HP Officejet Pro 8035 only printing in black.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
