@deva30, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Cartridge Problem!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
The error "Cartridge Problem: The indicated cartridges are not communicating correctly with the printer" can appear on the control panel of HP OfficeJet 8120, 8130, 9110, 9120, 9130, 9720, or 9730 All-in-One printers. To resolve this issue, follow the steps below:
1. Check Cartridge Compatibility
- Remove the cartridge: Take out the cartridge from the printer and note its number.
- Verify the cartridge number: Ensure the cartridge number matches the country/region where your printer was purchased.

2. Update the Printer Firmware
HP regularly releases firmware updates that can help resolve cartridge recognition issues.
Update Firmware:
- From the printer control panel: Tap Menu > Tools > Maintenance > Firmware > Check.
- From the HP Smart app: Click the printer image on the app home screen, then click Advanced Settings > Printer Update tile or Printer Updates under Manage > Check Now.
- From the HP website: Go to HP Software and Driver Downloads, follow the prompts, and click Download next to any updates listed under Firmware.
Ensure the firmware is the latest version. If an update is available, click Yes to install the latest update.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
