HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer

HP Envy 4520 Printer has worked perfectly for many years and was working perfectly until the black ink cartridge ran out. The latest Instant ink black cartridge was installed and shows as "incompatible cartridges" in printer display. Printer refuses to print. I have tried ALL the online "help" fixes and have the same result and same display in window. I cannot find any contact number to ask for another ink cartridge?

Hi @inkgremlin ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're facing compatibility issues with your new Instant Ink cartridge for your HP Envy 4520 printer, here are steps you can take to try and resolve the problem:

Reinstall the Cartridge:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Remove the incompatible cartridge and reinstall it.
  • Power on the printer and check if the issue persists.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the incompatible cartridge.
  • Use a lint-free cloth to gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge.
  • Reinstall the cartridge and check if the problem is resolved.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Visit the HP website, locate your printer model, and download and install the latest firmware update.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it, and wait for a few minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on. Check if the issue is resolved.

Check Cartridge Status Online:

  • Log in to your HP Instant Ink account online.
  • Check if the cartridge is correctly associated with your account and is recognized as compatible.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
