Hi @kevinw31,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Smart Tank Plus 550 series printer isn't printing cyan or yellow even though the tanks are full, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow:
1. Check for Blockages
- Printhead: Remove the printhead and inspect it for any blockages or dried ink. Clean it gently with a lint-free cloth and some distilled water if needed.
- Ink Cartridges: Ensure that the cyan and yellow cartridges are properly seated and not clogged. You can also clean the cartridge contacts with a soft, dry cloth.
2. Perform Printhead Cleaning
- Use the printer's built-in maintenance functions. You can usually find these options in the printer settings under "Maintenance" or "Tools" on the printer's control panel or in the HP Smart app. Run the printhead cleaning cycle and then try printing again.
3. Check Ink Levels
- Confirm that the ink levels are truly full. Sometimes the sensor may not accurately reflect the actual level of ink.
4. Align Printhead
- Run a printhead alignment process, which can also be found in the printer's maintenance menu. This can sometimes resolve issues with missing colors.
5. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or the HP website.
6. Replace Cartridges if Necessary
- Even if the tanks are full, the cartridges themselves might be faulty. Consider replacing the cyan and yellow cartridges with new ones.
7. Reset Printer
- As a last resort, perform a factory reset of the printer. Note that this will erase all settings and preferences, so you may need to set up the printer again.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
