My printer told me to replace the black ink cartridge. I did so with the product shipped by HP.
Then it would not print any black print and told me i needed to enroll my ink. My printer is enrolled. I received the ink from HP.
I restarted the printer. Same thing. No print of black. Now I have message that says the ink is not enrolled. This is frustrating.

Hi @ITFRUSTRATION,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Ensure Proper Cartridge Installation:
- Open the printer’s cartridge access door.
- Check if the black ink cartridge is installed correctly. Make sure it clicks into place securely.
Verify Instant Ink Enrollment:
- Ensure your printer is properly connected to the internet.
- Log into your HP Instant Ink account (https://instantink.hpconnected.com/signin) to verify that your printer is enrolled and that there are no problems with your subscription.
Clean the Ink Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
- Remove the black ink cartridge.
- Use a lint-free cloth moistened with a bit of distilled water to gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the ink cartridge and in the printer.
- Let the contacts dry for a few minutes and then reinsert the cartridge.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cable.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds and then plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Firmware Update:
- Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. You can download the latest firmware from the HP Support website (https://support.hp.com).
Check for Enrolled Ink Cartridge:
- Sometimes, it helps to manually check or re-enroll your cartridges via the printer control panel.
- Go to the printer control panel and navigate to the Instant Ink settings to ensure that the cartridge is properly recognized and enrolled.
I hope this helps.
