Hi @relot,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing some frustration with your HP OfficeJet 9018 printer. The "non HP chip detected" message typically occurs when the printer detects that a non-HP cartridge is installed, and it can sometimes cause the printer to become unresponsive.
Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue.
- Restart the Printer: Sometimes, simply turning off the printer, waiting for a few minutes, and then turning it back on can resolve temporary issues.
- Reinstall Cartridges: Turn off the printer, remove the non-HP cartridge and any other cartridges, then reinstall them carefully, making sure they are properly seated.
- Reset the Printer: Try performing a more thorough reset of the printer. Unplug the power cord from the printer while it is still on, wait for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn the printer on.
- Update Firmware (if possible): Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP website. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues with non-HP cartridges.
Regarding your question about using non-HP cartridges, HP printers are designed to work best with genuine HP cartridges.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
