Brand new black ink cartridge is throwing a code- says there is a problem.  I have tried all suggestions to clean reset cartridges.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you. 

It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating issue where your HP printer is not recognizing a brand-new black ink cartridge. 
Here are some of the steps you can try, 

Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure the cartridge model number matches the one supported by your specific printer model.
  • If you've moved regions, the cartridge might be region-locked. HP can perform a regionalization reset if needed.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Power off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the cartridge and gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Let everything dry for 10 minutes before reinserting.

Reset the Printer:

  • With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the back.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Try Single-Cartridge Mode:

  • Remove the problematic cartridge and see if the printer allows printing with just the color cartridge (if applicable). This can help isolate the issue.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit HP support site and enter your printer model to check for firmware updates that might resolve cartridge recognition issues.
