One or more cartridges appear to be damaged. Remove them and replace them with new cartridges.
Printer HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One
I have already thrown out one of these, the second one is the same. I have used original and not original ink, I have tried different colors. The carriage for replacement has stopped moving. What should I do?

Hi @dfcdfvrfdgnbrgf ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're facing a persistent issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8610 regarding cartridge errors. Given that the carriage has stopped moving, there may be a mechanical issue or the error may have escalated to a point where the printer needs more in-depth troubleshooting.
Here’s what you can try to resolve the issue:
Steps to Fix HP 8610 Cartridge Error:
Hard Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Manually Move the Cartridge Carriage:
- Unplug the printer while it’s still on. This might help release the carriage lock.
- Gently open the cartridge access door and try manually moving the carriage to the center.
- If it doesn’t move, there may be a physical obstruction or a hardware issue.
- If it moves, remove the cartridges and inspect for any obvious issues like ink leakage or debris inside the carriage area.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer.
- Remove all cartridges from the carriage.
- Clean the gold contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or isopropyl alcohol.
- Let them dry, then reinsert the cartridges.
Reinstall Firmware:
- Outdated firmware may cause issues with cartridge recognition.
- Go to HP’s support site, download, and reinstall the latest firmware for your printer.
Use Genuine HP Cartridges:
- Ensure that you are using genuine HP cartridges. Non-original cartridges may cause compatibility issues.
Check for Obstructions:
- Check inside the printer for any debris or pieces of packaging that might be obstructing the movement of the carriage.
Perform a Semi-Full Reset:
- This resets all settings, including the ink system, and may resolve deep-seated issues:
- Turn off the printer.
- Hold the # key and the 3 key at the same time while turning the printer back on.
- This should reset the printer to its factory settings.
