@verdonkf1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the output color on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw is suddenly too light, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Check Toner Levels

  • Go to the printer's control panel → Tap Setup → Tap Reports → Print a Supplies Status Report to check toner levels.
  • If any cartridge is low or empty, replace it.

Print a Print Quality Report

  • On the printer screen, go to SetupReportsPrint Quality Report.
  • Check if any colors are faded or missing.

Fixing Light or Faded Prints:

Check Paper Type Settings

  • If you're using thick or glossy paper, make sure the printer is set to the correct paper type:
    • Control PanelSetupPaper HandlingPaper Type → Choose the correct type.

Clean the Printer and Printheads

  • On the control panel, go to SetupServiceCleaning Page and follow the instructions.
  • This will help remove excess toner or dust.

Check Print Density Settings

  • Go to the printer menu or printer driver settings on your PC.
  • Increase Toner Density or Contrast.

Remove and Reinsert Toner Cartridges

  • Open the front door, remove each toner cartridge, and shake it gently to redistribute toner.
  • Reinsert them properly.

Run the Calibration Process

  • On the printer control panel, go to SetupSystem SetupPrint QualityCalibrate Color.

Firmware Update

  • Visit HP’s support page and check if there's a firmware update available for your printer.

Try a Different Toner Cartridge

  • If a single color is too light, that toner cartridge might be defective. Try replacing it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
