Hello,

Older Generation Cartridges Issue with HP PageWide 577DW

When encountering an issue with cartridges displaying as "older generation" on your HP PageWide 577DW, it might be related to dynamic security features. These printers are designed to work with cartridges that have an original HP chip. Here’s how you can address the issue:

Recommended Actions:

  1. Verify Cartridge Authenticity:

    • Ensure that the cartridges you are using are genuine HP cartridges. Counterfeit or refilled cartridges may not work due to changes in printer firmware.
  2. Update Printer Firmware:

    • Occasionally, updating the printer firmware can resolve cartridge recognition issues. Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest firmware for your printer model.
  3. Check Cartridge Chip:

    • Inspect the cartridge chip for any damage or dirt. Clean it gently with a lint-free cloth if necessary.
  4. Contact HP Support:

    • Since the message recommends contacting HP, it might be a specific issue that requires direct assistance from HP Support. Visit HP Customer Support for help.

Additional Tips:

  • Firmware Rollback (If Applicable): If the issue started after a firmware update, you might look for options to roll back to a previous version, although this is typically not recommended unless directed by HP Support.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the cartridge compatibility issue and continue printing without disruptions.
