Hi caseyg0784

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Photosmart 5520 is printing blank pages even after installing new ink cartridges and running cleaning and diagnostic tests, there are several potential reasons for this issue. Here are troubleshooting steps you can follow:

Check Ink Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are correctly installed. Make sure they are securely placed in their respective slots.

Remove Protective Tape:

  • Check if there is any protective tape or seal on the ink cartridges that need to be removed before installation. Sometimes, people forget to remove these protective covers.

Run Print Head Cleaning:

  • Perform a more thorough print head cleaning. You can usually find this option in the printer software or on the printer's control panel. Running multiple cleaning cycles may be necessary.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Verify that the ink levels in the cartridges are sufficient. Low ink levels can affect print quality.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP website. Updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues and improve overall performance.

Use Genuine HP Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Third-party or refilled cartridges may not work properly and can cause printing issues.

Check Paper Type and Quality:

  • Make sure you are using the correct type and quality of paper that is supported by the printer. Using incompatible or poor-quality paper can result in printing problems.

Inspect Print Settings:

  • Check the print settings on your computer and make sure they match the paper type and print quality you desire. Also, ensure that color printing is enabled if you are trying to print in color.

Try a Different Application:

  • If you are experiencing the issue with a specific application (e.g., Microsoft Word), try printing from a different application or a simple text document to see if the issue persists.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve various issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
