An error message accurs that says that the printer carrige is stuck and remove things that are in the way. When I open the hatch it is all clean and i cant move the carrige at all. I I tried to turn it off by taking the cable out of the wall and printer completely. The warning signal still comes on.

@TeaZo, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding "Carriage Jam" Error on HP OfficeJet Pro 9014e All-in-One Printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Here are the steps you can follow to resolve the "Carriage Jam" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9014e All-in-One Printer:
Step 1: Reset the Printer
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the power source.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.
- Turn the printer on if it does not turn on automatically.
Step 2: Check for and Remove Obstructions
Even if the carriage area appears clean:
- Open the cartridge access door of the printer.
- Use a flashlight to thoroughly inspect the carriage path for any small pieces of paper or other objects that might cause the carriage to jam.
- If necessary, manually move the carriage to the left or right to ensure it can move freely.
Step 3: Reposition the Carriage
- Open the cartridge access door and the product lid. The carriage should move to the center. Wait until the carriage stops moving.
- Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer to avoid any risk of injury or electric shock.
- Attempt to gently move the carriage left and right to see if it is stuck on something.
Step 4: Connect the Printer and Power it On Again
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer if it does not turn on automatically.
- Try printing a test page to see if the issue is resolved.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi, thank you for your reply och throughly written description. This problem is that I can’t manually move the carriage to the left or right to ensure it can move freely. It is completely stuck. I turned the printer on and off as you described it. But I got to step 2:3 and can’t go further…
do you know any other solution?
thank you

@TeaZo, Thank you for your detailed reply — I understand how frustrating it must be to open the printer expecting to find something, only to be met with a completely jammed carriage that won’t budge an inch. Let's dig a bit deeper.
Since the carriage won’t move at all even after a reset, it's possible that it's either physically locked by a small internal piece (like a dislodged gear or dried ink buildup) or the sensor is falsely detecting a jam. Here are a couple of extra things you can try:
Step 1: Try a Gentle Nudge (Power Off First)
Unplug the printer completely — no lights or hums.
With clean hands, gently press down and slightly nudge the carriage to the side. Don’t force it — just see if there’s any give or spring-back.
Sometimes, even a tiny piece of torn paper or dried ink underneath the carriage can lock it up.
Step 2: Check for Internal Lock Levers
Some models have a small grey latch or lock mechanism holding the carriage in place during certain cycles. Use a flashlight and inspect the left and right sides near the carriage rail.
Step 3: Clean the Carriage Rail
If you can reach the metal rod the carriage slides on, give it a light clean with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water (or isopropyl alcohol if available). Dried ink here can glue the carriage down.
If none of this works, and it’s still jammed tight, the mechanism might need a technician’s touch. Let me know what you see when you try these steps — we’re here for you every step of the way.
Hope this helps!
