@geleleens, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Intermittent issues where the HP DeskJet 3639 prints only 30% of a page can be caused by several factors, including driver issues, software conflicts, print spooler problems, or network interruptions. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check Print Queue and Restart Print Spooler

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click it, and select Restart.
  3. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  4. Right-click your HP DeskJet 3639, select See what’s printing, and cancel any stuck print jobs.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

Update Drivers:

  1. Open Device Manager (press Win + X and select Device Manager).
  2. Expand Print queues, right-click your printer, and select Update driver.
  3. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click the HP DeskJet 3639 and select Remove device.
  3. Download the latest drivers from the HP Support website and reinstall them.

Check Printer Preferences

  1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your printer and select Printing Preferences.
  3. Ensure the Paper Type and Print Quality settings match the type of paper you are using.

Disable Bidirectional Support

  1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your printer and select Printer Properties.
  3. Click the Ports tab and uncheck Enable bidirectional support.
  4. Click OK and try printing again.

Check Ink Levels and Paper Quality

  • Low ink levels or dirty rollers can cause printing issues.
  • Open HP Printer Assistant or HP Smart to check ink levels.
  • Run a Print Head Cleaning from the printer software.

Try Printing a Different File

  • If the issue happens with a specific document, try printing a different file.
  • Print a test page from Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right-click printer > Printer Properties > Print Test Page.

Connect the Printer via USB

  • If you're using Wi-Fi, try connecting the printer via USB to see if the issue persists. Network interruptions can sometimes cause partial prints.

Perform a Factory Reset

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the Cancel (X) and Wireless buttons.
  3. Turn the printer back on while holding the buttons until the power light blinks.
  4. Release the buttons and set up the printer again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
