Hi @TUCSON--04_,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a hardware issue with your HP DeskJet 2755e printer after installing a new ink cartridge. The "cartridge carrier banging left to right" and an error message like "error 3" indicate a problem with the printer's internal components or cartridge alignment. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Check for Obstructions: Make sure there are no obstructions or foreign objects inside the printer that may be interfering with the movement of the cartridge carrier. Remove any paper jams or foreign objects if present.

Reinstall the Ink Cartridge: Remove the new ink cartridge and then reinstall it carefully, ensuring that it clicks securely into place. Sometimes, a loose cartridge can cause alignment issues.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a minute or two, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Try printing again to see if the issue is resolved.

Update Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Go to the HP Support website, enter your printer model, and download and install the latest firmware if available.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer, remove the ink cartridge, and gently clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab dipped in distilled water. Make sure they are dry before reinserting the cartridge.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn on the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer while it's still on.
  • Wait for 60 seconds, then plug the power cord back in.
  • If the printer doesn't turn on automatically, press the power button to turn it on.
  • Try printing again.

Check for Paper Jams: Ensure that there are no paper jams inside the printer, as paper jams can sometimes cause the cartridge carrier to malfunction.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks, Aldlen for your reply.  I tried your suggestions several times and nothing has worked!   I even tried some other solutions from YouTube.  I guess I need to buy a new printer.
