HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer

My HP OfficeJet 9010 is not printing in color & my black ink has run out but i only received the three color inks in my delivery from HP. Also you still show me owning & using a printer i haven't used in over a year. This 9010 replaced the 6978

If you're experiencing issues with your HP OfficeJet 9010 not printing in color and have run out of black ink, here’s how you can address these issues:

**1. Check Ink Cartridge Status

  • Check Ink Levels:
    • Open the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel to check the ink levels for all cartridges. This will help confirm that the black ink is indeed out and that the color cartridges are properly installed.

**2. Replace the Black Ink Cartridge

Order the Correct Cartridge:

  • Since you only received color ink cartridges, you need to get a replacement for the black ink cartridge. Contact HP support or your supplier to order the correct black ink cartridge for your HP OfficeJet 9010.

Install the New Cartridge:

  • Open the printer’s ink cartridge access area. Remove the old black ink cartridge and install the new one. Follow the instructions in the printer manual or on the display for proper installation.

**3. Resolve Color Printing Issues

Check Print Settings:

  • Make sure the print settings are set to print in color. In the print dialog box, select Color instead of Grayscale or Black & White.

Run a Printhead Cleaning:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead. This can help resolve color printing issues.

Align the Printheads:

  • Perform a printhead alignment to ensure proper color printing. Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Align Printheads on the control panel.

Check for Software Updates:

  • Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Check for updates through the HP Smart app or on the HP Support website.

**4. Remove Old Printer from Account

If your HP account is showing an old printer that you no longer use:

Log In to HP Account:

Manage Devices:

  • Navigate to the Account or Devices section where you can view all registered printers.

Remove Old Printer:

  • Find the old HP OfficeJet 6978 and select the option to remove or delete it from your account.

Add New Printer:

  • Ensure your new HP OfficeJet 9010 is correctly registered and set up in your HP account.
