Hi @DrMFischer,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is consistently printing two parallel lines every time you print something, there could be a few potential reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Clean the Print Heads: Print heads can sometimes get clogged, leading to streaks or lines on the printed page. Most HP printers have a utility for cleaning the print heads. Refer to your printer's manual or the HP website for instructions on how to run a print head cleaning cycle.
  • Check for Obstructions: Inspect the printer's paper path for any obstructions or debris that may be causing the lines. Even small pieces of paper or dust can interfere with the printing process.
  • Replace the Ink Cartridges: If the ink cartridges are low on ink or are old, they may not be providing enough ink to the print heads, resulting in lines on the page. Replace the ink cartridges with new ones and see if the issue persists.
  • Adjust Print Settings: Sometimes, the issue may be related to the print settings. Try adjusting the print quality settings in the printer driver software. You may also want to check if the paper type and size settings match the paper you are using.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Make sure that you have the latest drivers installed for your HP printer. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause printing issues. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website.
  • Perform a Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Firmware updates can sometimes address printing issues and improve overall performance.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue of your HP printer printing two parallel lines every time you print something.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
