My print quality for black works well when printing from the computer. When I copy from the glass of the printer, the black comes out pink. This doesn't seem to be a problem with the cartridges. I cleaned the glass on the printer I made sure the copy setting was set to print in black but it didn't work. I just want to copy something so I get a true black.

Hi @LoriWal,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your printer is printing black correctly from the computer but producing pink copies when using the copier function, the issue may be related to the copier settings, calibration, or firmware. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide
1. Check Copier Settings:
- Confirm that the copier settings are set to black and white mode. Sometimes, the printer may default to color mode, which can cause issues with black copying.
2. Clean the Scanner Glass and ADF
- Turn off the printer.Use a lint-free cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner to clean the scanner glass thoroughlyAlso, clean the white underside of the scanner lid to ensure there are no smudges or marks. If you are using the ADF to copy, clean the ADF glass as well.
3. Perform a Printer Reset:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.Try making a black and white copy again.
4. Update Printer Firmware
- Visit the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page.Enter your printer model and download the latest firmware update.Follow the instructions to install the firmware update on your printer.
5. Calibrate the Printer
- Access the printer’s menu (usually available on the printer's control panel).
- Look for maintenance or calibration options and perform a print head alignment or calibration.
6. Check Ink Levels and Cartridges
- Even though printing from the computer works, ensure that all ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink.
- Remove and reinstall the ink cartridges to ensure they are seated correctly.
7. Run a Diagnostic Test
- From the printer’s control panel, access the maintenance or diagnostic options.Print a diagnostic page to check for any issues with the print heads or ink cartridges.
8. Reset to Factory Settings:
- Refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on performing a factory reset. After the reset, reconfigure the printer settings and try copying again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
