HP DeskJet 3760 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello,
I'm reposting my question in English this time (if there's a similar site in French, please let me know so that I can solve my printing problem).
I've been having printing problems for a while now. When I print texts, words are half erased or smudges appear. I've tried realigning the print heads and cleaning them, but to no avail. I've also changed the cartridges without success. I don't know what to do and it's annoying because my prints aren't complete.
What can I do to solve this problem?

Hi @clémentine,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand that you're experiencing print quality issues with your HP DeskJet 3760 on Windows 10 (32-bit) — specifically with faded or half-erased text, and smudges, even after cleaning and replacing cartridges.

1. Use HP Smart App for Deeper Maintenance

  1. Install or open the HP Smart app (HP Smart - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store).
  2. Select your printer, then go to:
    • Printer Settings > Tools > Printer Maintenance
  3. Run:
    • Deep Clean Printhead (not just the standard one)
    • Print Quality Diagnostic Page

Repeat cleaning up to 2–3 times, but not more, to avoid ink waste.

2. Check Paper Type and Settings

Sometimes smudging happens when the paper type doesn’t match your print settings.

  1. When you click Print, go to Preferences > Paper/Quality tab.
  2. Ensure the paper type is set correctly (e.g., Plain Paper, not Photo).
  3. Try using HP-branded paper if available.

3. Inspect the Carriage Area

Even though cartridges are new, paper dust or dried ink can cause issues:

  1. Open the printer cover.
  2. Gently clean the area where cartridges sit, especially around the carriage contacts.
    • Use a lint-free cloth very slightly dampened (not wet).
    • Be cautious not to touch the nozzles directly.

4. Reset the Printer

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cable from both the printer and the wall.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug back in and power on.

This resets any stuck processes that could affect quality.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
