i am connected to a deskjet ink advantage 2800 series printer. Have checked set up using HP print / scan doctor which says "no problems, all is correctly connected" but when i try to print no text is printed. Also the test page does not print out properly, only prints with a few colour blocks. Any ideas how to fix my problem

It seems you are experiencing issues with your DeskJet Ink Advantage 2800 series printer where the text does not print, and the test page prints only a few color blocks. Here are detailed steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Check for Error Messages

  • Ensure there are no error messages displayed on the printer or computer screens.
  • Follow on-screen instructions to resolve any possible errors.

2. Verify Printer Connection

  • Ensure the printer is correctly connected and turned on.
  • If using a USB connection, try disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable.
  • If using a wireless connection, confirm that the connection is functional.

3. Check Printer Status

  • Verify the printer is not paused or offline.
    • For Windows:
      • Open Control Panel > View devices and printers.
      • Either double-click or right-click your printer icon and select "See what's printing".
      • Ensure there are no check marks next to "Pause Printing" or "Use Printer Offline".
  • For macOS:
    • Open System Preferences > Print & Fax.
    • Click "Open Print Queue" and ensure the printer is not paused or offline.

4. Set Printer as Default

  • Ensure your DeskJet Ink Advantage 2800 series is set as the default printer.
    • For Windows:
      • In Control Panel > View devices and printers, right-click your printer and select "Set as Default Printer".
    • For macOS:
      • Open System Preferences > Print & Fax, and set your printer as default.
