Hello,
we want to use a HP Envy 4500 bought in Japan years ago now in Europe (Austria). I bought new inks: HP original 301 black and 301 tri-colour. Now the printer shows that the inks are not compatible.
I already tried to change the region via the online printer config tool (from japanese to german) and I already installed the latest firmware (MKM1FN2025AR).
In another article I found out, that I need a support code from HP to "really" change the region.

I'd like to help!
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP HP Support Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.
