Hi @hapyzens,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet 5255 printer isn't recognizing the color ink cartridge after you've replaced it and you're still unable to print in color, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Ensure Proper Installation: Make sure that the color ink cartridge is installed correctly. Remove it and reinsert it to ensure a proper connection.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, the contacts on the ink cartridge or inside the printer may be dirty or covered in ink residue. Gently wipe the contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth dampened with water. Allow them to dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.
  • Printer Software Update: Check if there are any updates available for your printer's software or firmware. Sometimes, outdated software can cause compatibility issues with new cartridges.
  • Reset the Printer: Try performing a factory reset on your printer. This can sometimes resolve software glitches that may be preventing the recognition of the color cartridge.
  • Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the color ink cartridge you've purchased is compatible with your HP OfficeJet 5255 printer. Using incompatible cartridges can cause issues with recognition and printing.

By going through these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue and restore dual cartridge printing on your HP OfficeJet 5255 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
