HP Smart Tank 7305 All-in-One

Like several others - I am wishing I never bought a Smart Tank, despite the tanks being virtually full there is nothing printing.

All ink tubes are airlocked apart from Black.

Before the 'experts' start the standard reply, I have done the following...

Firmware is up to date.

All tanks are virtually full, and all lids are sealed.

Printer heads cleaning routine done to stage 3 several times.

Printer heads aligned even though not the problem.

Printheads have been manually cleaned and dried as per instructions online and given in advice to others.

And of course the warranty has expired...

No reply to any others has solved problems with missing colours for this machine, and no solution appears elsewhere online. Indeed - one solution provided by an HP worker was to remove the ink cartridges...

HOW DO WE REMOVE AIRLOCKS FROM THE INK TUBES?  this is often quoted as one of the problems - so if you know it to be a problem - how do we solve it?

Hi @gerrylewis,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds frustrating to deal with airlocks in the ink tubes, especially when you've already tried so many troubleshooting steps. Here’s a method you can try to remove the airlocks from the ink tubes:

Power Off the Printer: Turn off your Smart Tank printer and unplug it from the power source to avoid any electrical issues while working on it.

Remove Ink Tanks: Carefully remove the ink tanks from the printer and inspect the ink tubes for any visible air bubbles.

Squeeze the Tubes Gently: With the ink tanks removed, gently squeeze the ink tubes to release any trapped air. Start with the color tubes that have the airlocks, and make sure you don't damage the tubes while doing this. Be cautious of any ink leakage.

Reinstall the Ink Tanks: Once you've attempted to remove the airlocks, reinstall the ink tanks back into the printer. Ensure they’re properly seated.

Perform a Cleaning Cycle: Go back to the printer settings and perform a cleaning cycle again (preferably a deep clean if the option is available). This will help draw the ink from the tanks through the tubes and might clear any remaining airlocks.

Test Print: After trying the above steps, try printing a test page to check if the issue is resolved.
