Hi @GM-S, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer has stopped printing in color despite having plenty of ink and selecting color in settings, try the following steps:
Check the Ink Cartridges
- Ensure that the color ink cartridge is installed correctly.
- Remove and reinsert the color cartridge to ensure proper contact.
- If your printer uses separate cartridges for different colors, check if any of them are empty or clogged.
Run Print Head Cleaning
- Open HP Smart or Printer Utility on your computer.
- Look for the "Clean Printhead" or "Printhead Cleaning" option and run it.
- Print a test page to check if color printing is restored.
Check Printer Preferences
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers (Windows) or System Preferences > Printers & Scanners (Mac).
- Right-click on your HP printer and select Printing Preferences.
- Under the Color tab, make sure "Print in grayscale" is NOT selected.
Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver
- Visit HP support website, download, and install the latest driver for your printer model.
Check Printer Preferences:
- Ensure that the printing preferences are set to print in color. Sometimes, the settings might be set to grayscale or black and white.
- You can check this by going to your computer's control panel, selecting 'Devices and Printers', right-clicking your printer, and choosing 'Printing Preferences'. Make sure the option to print in color is selected.
Run HP Print and Scan doctor
1. Please download HP print and scan doctor using this link: Official HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows | Free Download hppsdr.exe
2. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
3. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor is open, click Start, and then choose your printer.
4. If your printer is not listed, turn it on and click Retry.
5. If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in the tool.
6. Click Fix Printing
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
