Hi @MarkLM,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Smart Tank 6001 All-in-One printer is not printing yellow ink, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the yellow ink tank is filled adequately. If it’s low or empty, refill it with the appropriate HP ink.
Print a Self-Test Page:
- Go to the printer's control panel and print a self-test page to see if the yellow ink is present in the printout.
Clean the Printhead:
- Use the printer's cleaning function to clean the printhead. This can often resolve ink flow issues. You can usually find this option in the printer settings through the HP Smart app or on the printer's control panel.
Perform a Printhead Alignment:
- Misaligned printheads can lead to issues with color printing. Run a printhead alignment from the printer settings.
Check for Clogs:
- If the printhead cleaning does not help, remove the printhead (if applicable) and inspect it for any clogs. You can clean it gently with a lint-free cloth and some distilled water.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Check the HP website or use the HP Smart app for any updates.
Try Different Paper:
- Sometimes, the type of paper used can affect print quality. Make sure you're using the correct paper type for your printer.
Use Genuine HP Cartridges:
- If you are using third-party cartridges or refills, consider switching to genuine HP cartridges, as compatibility issues can cause printing problems.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
