I keep getting this error message as well. i did get the carriage to move and I removed the print cartridges as it was sliding across. However, it says i did not shut it down properly and I have a paper jam (which I do not).  What is going on with this printer? How do I reset it outside of unplugging and waiting two minutes and pressing the power button for a minute?

The only thing I did differently was send a document to print through the printer's email address.  After that, my printer was history. I could not print again.

I followed all troubleshooting instructions provided to get it to restart, but nothing worked. It is an HP Office Jet Pro 6968.
