I am not familiar with the paper -- the paper weight is within what the printer can handle.

Printer generally handles non-HP brand paper that is high-quality and meets the specifications for paper size, type, and print surface.

True - pushing paper into the printer can cause the printer to jam.

True - the Specification document does not include this information.

Example:  Product Specifications for the HP ENVY Photo 6232 All-in-One Printer (K7G26B)

For this printer series:

Media Size (facet)Letter; A4; B5
Media Sizes Custom (imperial)3.85 x 8.5 to 5 x 12.2 in
Media Sizes Custom (metric)97.79 x 215 to 127 x 355 mm
Media TypesPlain Paper; HP Photo Papers; HP Matte Brochure or Professional Paper; HP Matte Presentation Paper; HP Glossy Brochure or Professional Paper; Other Photo Inkjet Papers; Other Matte Inkjet Papers; Other Glossy Inkjet Papers, Plain Paper, Light/Recycled
Media Weight Recommended (imperial)18 to 22 lb
Media Weight Recommended (metric)70 to 90 g/m²
Media Weights Supported, By Paper Path (Imperial)16 to 80 lb
Media Weights Supported, By Paper Path (metric)Tray 1: A4: 75 to 90 g/m²; HP envelopes: 75 to 90 g/m²; HP Photo Paper: up to 300 g/m²; HP 10 x 15 cm photo paper: up to 300 g/m²

NOTES

HP Brochure / Professional paper is typically 180 gsm.

HP Presentation paper is 120 gsm.

Preparation

Load the paper into the printer using the instructions in the User Guide.

Example - Pages 16-17

Next,

Alert the printer to the paper change / loaded paper.

Watch for a message after the paper is loaded and the tray is closed

and

"Change or retain the paper settings on the printer display"

OR -- if available, use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to change / update / check the paper size / type - Tray and Paper Management.

General Example - Retain / Modify (Edit) / Check Paper Size & Type - Tray and Paper

Retain_Printing_Preferences_17Retain_Printing_Preferences_17

Next,

The rest of "what to do" depends on several factors, including:

  • Whether the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software is installed
  • The software / application program you are using to open, view, configure, and submit the job to the printer
  • The job / shortcut settings - how and whether configured and compatible
