HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

RE: Office Jet Pro 9135e   During  printing side two of a 2 sided print job, the printer pulled in TWO sheets of paper from the OUTPUT tray back into the printer. They were pulled into the rollers under the printhead and jammed.  Received PAPER JAM Message - with the usual clear Jam instructions.  I can just barely see the two sheets sticking out from the rollers and print cartridge area on the LEFT side with the front access door open but seems no way to pull them free out the front.  NO jammed sheets are visible from the back access door.  I see no way to access and clear this jam.

Printer Settings show there are no print jobs in the QUE.  Opening and closing the front access door does not cause the print cartridge/head to move back and forth as usual for cartridge replacement. . Print head/cartridge assembly is now parked on the far left of the printhead sliding bar.  I decided NOT to attempt to execute any more print commands including TEST PRINT not knowing what might happen to print head and moving assembly with paper clearly jammed underneath.

Greatful for ANY advice on how to somehow manipulate the rollers/printhead or ??? to retrieve the jammed sheets.

Viewed from the front there appears to be several spring loaded metal plates applying pressure to the paper pathway.

I tried to pull on the top of the small area of the sheets that were visible from the front but the paper just tore off.  The sheets appear to be locked in tight.  Thank you in advance for your help!

@Reefrunner, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Clear Paper Jams in the HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

When paper is jammed under the printhead or rollers, follow these steps to clear it:

Safety First:

  • Ensure the printer is turned off before attempting to clear any jams to avoid injury.

Remove Paper From the Output Tray:

  • Carefully remove as much paper as you can from the output tray to prevent any further jams.

Access the Inside of the Printer:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door. If paper is stuck beneath the printhead, ensure the printhead carriage is positioned on the right side.
  • Carefully look for and remove any visible paper scraps or jammed sheets. Use both hands to gently pull the paper towards you to avoid tearing. If the paper tears, be sure to remove all fragments.

Check the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF):

  • Lift the cover of the ADF, if applicable, and check for any paper jammed in this area.

Reassemble:

  • After clearing the jam, close any open access doors.
  • Reinsert any removed components and securely close the printer’s doors.

Restart and Test:

  • Power on the printer and try a test print to ensure the issue is resolved.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
