My HP2200D is not picking up paper from the manual feed tray.  It goes through the motions but doesn’t grab the paper.

The bottom tray does feed correctly, but my paper isn’t standard so I need to use the manual feed tray.
Thanks in advance for suggestions!

Based on the age of the printer likely either the roller is dirty or is worn out. You can try cleaning it with a damp lint free cloth. It should have little finger print like ridges on it but if it is smooth, you will need to replace it. Rollers can also simply get hard with age and slip on the paper.

Thank you, Repairatrooper - I wiped off the rollers I could see (white, so probably not the right ones).  It must be beyond help.  It feeds from the bottom tray, but it feeds more than one page at a time after the first page goes through.  The margins are off, too.  Maybe I need to ditch it.

Thanks again!

Multi feeds are caused by the separation pad either wearing out or getting hard. Again this is a very old printer so age has as much to do with it as wear. You should be able to find the parts on Ebay and they are likely not very expensive and YouTube will likely have a video someone has shot showing how to change them. it has been so long since I worked on a 2200 I do not have the procedure memorized anymore.
