4x6 1/2 HP 5660 Paper Jam

I'm trying to use HP Photo Paper (4x6 with perforated tab) & each time I try my printer jams while starting to feed. If I remove the perforated tab first, it does not jam.

I can offer some of the places to check / adjust the setup.

The printer Specifications do not specifically indicate that the "Tabbed" photo paper 4x6.5 inches is supported

The printer size might not be mentioned in the printer software.

The printer description (internal document) lists this size as compatible.

Important:

Because the size is not listed as a standard size that can be easily selected,

Assuming you can create the circumstances to print on the paper, 

It might not be easy to place the photo on the paper precisely where you want it to print (avoiding the tab portion).

Assuming the setup works at all AND that you do not care whether the "tab" area is covered by the printed content, the results (if it works) should be sufficient.

Add the following to your checkpoints:

It is necessary that you install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software.

If it is not already installed,

Install the software.

Reminder: 

Switch OFF VPN to install software. 

If you don't know what this is, you are not using VPN.

Basic Installation – Full Feature Software

• If using USB, disconnect the USB cable between the printer and the computer before starting the installation.  Connect the cable when instructed to do so (toward the end of the installation procedure).

• Download and Save the Full Feature Software installation package or the Easy Start wrapper
• Open File Explorer
• Navigate to the folder in which you saved the installation file  (likely Downloads)
• Reminder:  If using USB cable between printer and computer, disconnect the cable before installing software.
• Right-Click on the installation package and “Run as Administrator”
• If using Easy Start > When asked, opt for "Full Driver" (exact wording might vary).
• After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

Load the paper into the printer according to the instructions in the User Guide

Next,

Alert the printer to the paper loaded in the tray.

Paper Setting on Printer Control / Display Panel

Check / Adjust / Retain the Paper at the Printer Display Panel

Open Printer Tray,

If you have not yet done so, Remove / add desired paper size - type

else

Wait a few seconds

Close Tray

IF applicable for your printer:

On the Printer Control Display Panel,

Click Modify / Change / No-Yes (wording varies), adjust the paper size and type, Click OK

No Size?  If the size of the Paper Size is not in the Drop-down list, Select Custom

Note:  Not all printers allow selection of “Custom”

If the printer is on the network,

If the feature is supported,

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to configure the Paper Size & Type

EWS – Browser – Tray and Paper Management

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper Management

Model Dependent:  Advanced section

Click Apply to save changes

Create a Custom Paper Size Form for your little tabbed paper.

Here is where I am not sure how your printer will respond..

The printer specifications do not specifically mention how to handle custom sizes.

The internal documentation says Custom Paper Sizes are supported - but does not mention whether these are supported in Windows.  Yes, I know...

I believe, without proof, that you can create a Custom Paper Size form for your "tabbed" paper and use it to print.

The trick is whether the new form will show up as select-able in your Printing Preferences.

Next,

If the Custom Paper Size form is fully supported,

If you don't care if the "tabbed" part of the paper might be included in the printed photo,

Try HP Smart or Windows Photos to print your photo.

Remember to check / adjust the Paper Size - if available, your custom size form will be the last (newest) entry in the drop-down list.

If the Custom Paper Size form is fully supported,

If you want a bit more control over the placement of the photo on the paper,

Consider printing with  Paint (mspaint)

The Page Setup menu in Paint allows you to select margins by the edge.

NOTE:  Paint arranges the paper size list alphabetically / numerically and not "new" on the bottom...

Explaining the entirety of the setup is beyond the scope of this description - suffice that it might work if you can set the edges and content the way you want.
