HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've been trying to print full size (8.5 x 11 or 8 x 10) photos on photo paper. They keep coming out off center leaving a lot of white space to one side and cutting off the other side (left). I've tried everything in settings, checked the paper drawer and don't see an adjustment option for tightening the width although it looks like it's snug enough. Drawer is set for letter size photo paper. I select "borderless" printing, best, landscape, etc, but nothing seems to work to get them to align properly. I've realigned the printer and tried "centering" in print options but still no luck. Help would be much appreciated. wireless connection. Tried printing via Adobe photoshop elements 19 and also just from the file explorer using windows printing. Double checked all print settings. Hope someone had a solution. Thank you! (PS hardware is up to date and driver as far as I can tell.)

Hi @ruachcontent,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you’re trying to print full-size photos (8.5×11" or 8×10") on photo paper, but the image is printing off-center, leaving white space on one side and cutting off the other. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

1. Confirm the paper type and size are correctly set on the printer

Open the printer’s tray settings on the control panel and select Letter – Photo Paper (8.5×11").

If printing 8×10 on letter paper, set the job to 8×10 photo size, not letter.

2. Disable “Fit to Page” or scaling

In the Print dialog, choose Actual Size / 100% scale.

Scaling or “Fit to Page” can shift images off-center and make borderless alignment fail.

3. Select “Borderless” AND matching paper size in the software

Under Paper Size, choose Letter Borderless or 8×10 Borderless, whichever matches your paper.

If the paper size doesn’t match the borderless size, centering will not work.

4. Check orientation settings

If the photo was captured in portrait and printed landscape (or vice-versa), it may misalign.

Make sure the image orientation matches the print orientation in Photoshop/Windows.

5. Set the media type to Photo Paper

Under Paper Type choose HP Photo Paper (or similar coated photo choice).

Selecting plain paper can disable proper borderless centering.

6. Turn off printer-side “Photo Fix/Enhancements”

On the printer panel, disable Photo Fix / Enhancement / Auto Smart Tasks.

Auto-correction can crop edges to improve composition, causing left/right cut-offs.

7. Try a non-borderless test print

Print the same photo with borders and centered.

If it centers correctly with borders, the issue is specifically borderless alignment.

I hope this helps.
