I keep getting the errror about my document feeder is in error. It worked for about 10 scans then its constantly in error. I tried all the steps listed on the printer and HP Smart app to no success. Has anyone else had this issue and know how to resolve it?

Hi @LWright34,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're dealing with a frustrating issue. Document feeder errors on the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e can sometimes be caused by a few common issues.
Here are some additional troubleshooting steps you might try:
- Check for Paper Jams: Even if you’ve done this before, double-check that no paper or debris is stuck inside the document feeder. Sometimes small bits can be missed.
- Clean the Rollers: Dust or paper residue can cause issues with the document feeder. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to clean the rollers inside the feeder. Be sure the printer is turned off and unplugged before doing this.
- Check the Paper: Ensure you’re using the recommended paper type and size for the document feeder. Make sure the paper is not wrinkled or damaged.
- Reset the Document Feeder: Try performing a reset. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the wall, wait for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Update Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes issues like these can be fixed with a firmware update. Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Inspect the Feeder Path: Ensure there are no obstructions or misalignments in the feeder path.
- Check the HP Smart App for Updates: Make sure that the HP Smart app is up-to-date. Sometimes issues can be related to outdated software.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi, thank you for taking the time to reply.
I tried all those steps and then the document feeder works for about 2 or 3 scans then it stops again.
Any idea why it would be acting this strange.?
I requested bestbuy to come out and look at it but will be charged $80 to get someone to look at it. Hopefully they can figure it out since everything I try seems to work then fail again.
