Our  almost 4 year old Office Jet 9015 printer stopped working...ink carriage will not budge from right side.  It says that there is a paper jam, but we cannot see it.  No paper was torn from last page printed and we cannot see one in any spot

I have tried all things I've read online...clean carriage bar, unplug from wall/printer body.  After two days without power, it continues to say there is a paper jam and the carriage will not move.

The warranty expired in 2020.  Any suggestions?

Hi @MBohanna,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the carriage of your HP 9015 printer is not moving from the right side of the printer, even though there is no paper jam or anything stuck, there are a few possible causes of this issue.

  • Power cycle the printer: Try turning off the printer and unplugging it from the power source for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on again. This can help reset the printer's internal mechanisms and may resolve the issue.
  • Check for obstructions: Make sure there are no obstructions blocking the carriage's movement, such as a paper clip, pen, or any other foreign object that may have fallen into the printer.
  • Clean the printer: Use a soft cloth or brush to clean the printer's carriage, including the printhead, and the surrounding area. This can help remove any debris that may be causing the carriage to become stuck.
  • Check the cartridges: If the ink cartridges are not installed correctly or are damaged, this can cause the carriage to become stuck. Check the cartridges to ensure they are properly installed and functioning properly.
  • Check for firmware updates: Sometimes, firmware updates can help resolve issues with printers. Check for any available firmware updates for your HP 9015 printer and install them if necessary.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
