BW addition to my HP MFP M276

Hello, I am currently having printing problems, long horizontal streaks throughout the whole page, with my current HP M276 printer.

I was advised by our local printer company, because my current HP is so old, to supplement it with a monochrome laser. I've always heard great things about Brother monochrome lasers, but that was quite awhile ago. Looking for current good buys.

We are a mid-sized restaurant and use this printer for all office documents as well as some customer/kitchen facing printing.

The last report states about 22000 color documents and 65000 BW documents for a total of 87000 something documents, which the service guy said was way over life for this printer. He's surprised that it's still working. The printer is about 7 years old.

I believe that the printer could be repaired, new drums or whatever it's called, but if it's happening with color printouts as well, I would be wise to replace the whole printer for a new MF color laser.

Any advice is appreciated.

I understand the print quality is not good. Glad to know that you have been able to use the printer all these years due to your good maintenance. 

Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues

Have you replaced the ink toners and check if that helps?

If the issue persists after replacing the ink toners, I'm afraid the printer has gone bad and you may have to upgrade it.

The service tech is not really wrong. The life rating on the fuser on this series of printers is 50K pages. I have seen some go as high as 110K pages. If the streaks are a single color then likely it is a cartridge issue and removing and examining the cartridge should reveal excess toner or damage to the blue/green drum unit. Beyond cartridges, it gets rather expensive doing any major repairs.
