Mac OS Sonoma 14.2.1
HP Color LaserJet 5225n
On the printer: Tray 1 paper size set to "any size"
This is a brand new machine. I need to be able to feed 8.5" x 11" paper into tray 1 with the short edge leading in, so the paper grain is parallel to the machine. All attempts to rotate the artwork or paper orientation in the print dialogue box do not print correctly. It doesn't make sense that I can't rotate a sheet in either direction to feed into Tray 1.
A related issue; I'd like to feed a 5"x7" sheet into tray one with the long edge leading in, but it will only allow the short edge to lead (and print correctly).
For both of these, I've created custom paper orientations of 11x8.5, 8.5x11, 7x5, 5x7, selected all variations of Portrait and Landscape with Auto Rotate turned on and turned off. Nothing I do yields the result I need.
Please help!

What driver are you using? the 5x7 is well within listed supported paper sizes. That said this particular model is the most quirky model of large format laser every produced by HP and has been carried on for ages with no updates at all. Any size selection on any printer is a poor choice as it causes no end of problems.

I received the printer last week and downloaded drivers from the HP website; printer settings say it's Driver Version 10.4.
It does print 5"x7"; the issue is that I need to rotate the sheet 90 degrees in Tray 1 so the paper grain is parallel with the machine to reduce bending/wrinkles on thicker cover stock (and envelopes). Same issue with 8.5"x11" sheets; they are short grain, so I need to feed the short side of the paper into the machine.
