Hi @wasra,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

A carriage jam can be frustrating, but you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Power Off and Unplug the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Disconnect any other cables connected to the printer.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Open the printer’s access door to reach the carriage area.
  • Look for any paper jams, debris, or foreign objects that may block the carriage path, and remove them if necessary.
  • Gently move the carriage manually to the right and left to ensure that it moves freely.

Inspect the Carriage and Ink Cartridges:

  • Remove all ink cartridges from the printer.
  • Check if any cartridges are damaged or improperly installed, and reinstall them into their correct slots. Ensure each cartridge clicks into place properly.

Inspect the Carriage Path:

  • Ensure the carriage path is clear of obstructions.
  • Look for any broken parts or pieces within the carriage path or ensure the carriage belt is intact.

Reset the Printer:

  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer and press the power button to turn it back on.
  • Wait for the printer to go through its startup procedure.
  • Attempt a test print to check if the carriage can move freely.

Update Printer Firmware:

Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.

Perform a Factory Reset:

  • Sometimes, a factory reset can help resolve internal errors. Instructions on performing a factory reset can be found here.

I hope this helps.
