DeskJet 3752 - trying to feed a paper similar to manila folder type. It has worked in the past. Currently, when the printer feeds the paper and sets it to print, it pulls it in - but slips. Then pulls it back up, but slips again. I'm not able to print. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi @8GIJ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having with your DeskJet 3752 feeding custom paper. I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer doesn’t handle the paper as expected, especially when it’s worked before. Let’s try to figure out what’s causing the issue and resolve it.

  • Has the printer recently experienced any jams or other issues with regular paper?
  • Is the custom paper the same thickness or type as what worked in the past, or has there been a change?
  • Are there any visible signs of wear or residue on the printer's rollers that might be causing slippage?

Try the following below

Clean the Printer Rollers:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power.
  • Open the printer’s access area and locate the rollers.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the rollers.
  • Let the rollers dry completely before reconnecting and trying again.

Check the Paper Specifications:

  • Confirm that the custom paper falls within the printer’s supported weight and thickness range. The DeskJet 3752 generally supports paper weights up to 300 g/m² (similar to heavy cardstock). If the paper is too thick, it may cause slippage.

Adjust the Paper Guides:

  • Ensure the paper width and length guides in the input tray are snug against the edges of the custom paper. Misaligned guides can cause the paper to shift or slip.

Fan and Re-Load the Paper:

  • Remove the custom paper and fan the stack to separate the sheets slightly.
  • Re-load the paper, ensuring it’s flat and not curled or bent at the edges.

Print a Test Page with Regular Paper:

  • Test the printer with regular paper to ensure the feeding mechanism is functioning correctly.
  • If regular paper works fine, retry the custom paper, but feed one sheet at a time manually if necessary.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, the rollers or feed mechanism might need servicing.
