While trying to print on very thin paper, it all shredded and printing stopped. I unplugged, and cleared as much of the shredded paper as I could see. Now, error is E or 3, amber paper light flashing.

Welcome to the HP Community --

Scam site - Not HP.

Silly and evil scammers want to convince you to give them your private information.

Ignore them and run away.

No information on which printer you are using -- some printers won't print on "thin" paper (as you have found).

How you clean out the printer and how to open the printer to check again depends on that missing printer model information.
