Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi, I have a new HP smart tank 7305 printer. I have only tried to print a few things but I already have 2 issues with the duplex print function:

1. When the paper is grabbed to automatically be turned over, the paper often ends up scrunched on the sides (about 70% of the time) or with a folded corner (that only happened once)

2. The document does not stay consistently centered on the page. The very first print I did was brilliant (apart from the scrunching) - perfectly centered on both sides of the page. All subsequent prints have had completely different top and bottom margin sizes on the front side compared to the back side. It's driving me nuts because I know it can do it!

Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated. Very frustrated by these quality issues on a brand new printer.

Hi @Katzbasket,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with the duplex printing you're experiencing with your new HP Smart Tank 7305 printer. It's definitely not ideal to have paper scrunched, folded, or misaligned when using the duplex function.

Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

For the paper feeding issue:

  1. Check the paper type and quality: Make sure you're using paper that is compatible with duplex printing and is in good condition. Avoid using wrinkled, damp, or torn paper.
  2. Adjust the paper guides: Ensure the paper guides in the input tray are adjusted snugly against the paper stack without bending it.
  3. Clean the paper rollers: Dust and debris can accumulate on the paper rollers, causing feeding issues. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the rollers according to the printer's manual instructions.
  4. Check for firmware updates: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause printing problems. Visit HP's support website and download the latest firmware update for your printer model. Software and Drivers for HP Smart Tank 7305 All-in-One

For the misaligned printing issue:

  1. Calibrate the printer: Most HP printers have a calibration utility that can help align the printheads and ensure accurate printing. Run the calibration utility as instructed in the printer's manual.
  2. Check the print settings: Make sure the duplex printing settings are correct and that the "Mirror Margins" option is not enabled.
  3. Try printing from a different application: Sometimes, the issue might be related to the specific application you're using. Try printing the same document from another program to see if the problem persists.

I hope this helps.
