Hi @Chachi50,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The E-3 error on your HP ENVY Pro 6458 All-in-One Printer typically indicates a paper jam or a similar issue related to paper feeding. Since the "X" reset button isn't lighting up, it suggests that the printer might not be detecting the error properly, or there could be another underlying issue. Here's what you can try.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open the printer and check for any paper jams inside the input tray, output tray, or any other accessible areas.
  • Remove any stuck paper carefully, ensuring there are no small pieces left behind.

Inspect the Paper Path:

  • Check the paper path for any obstructions, such as debris or foreign objects, that might be causing the jam.
  • Ensure that the paper is properly aligned and not curled or wrinkled, as this could trigger the error.

Check the Cartridges:

  • Open the printer and ensure the ink cartridges are seated properly.
  • Remove the cartridges and reinsert them, making sure they click into place securely.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
  • See if the error clears and if the "X" reset button lights up.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date, as outdated firmware can sometimes cause errors.
  • You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Perform a Factory Reset:

  • If the issue persists, try performing a factory reset on the printer. Be aware that this will clear any custom settings.
  • To reset the printer, unplug it from power. Press and hold the "Power" button for 15 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
