HP ENVY 5070 printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The printer picks up paper and prints fine but then doesn't advance the page out the "exit". It just sits there and makes this clicking noise - (and the ink cartridges are all the way over to the right side). So, it never moves on to the next page it's supposed to print. I have to pull the printed page out of the "exit", open the top where the ink cartridges are, fiddle with it like I was clearing a jam (which I,m not), close the lid.....and if I'm lucky it will then go on to print the next page.

@safsac, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I see that the printer is not ejecting the papers right. Are you using regular plain paper?

Let us try these steps:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware

Clean the paper pick rollers as shown in this document - 'Out of Paper' Displays, Printer Does Not Pick Up Paper

Try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks @Kumar0307, unfortunately none of your suggestions helped. Yes, im using plain white paper 20 lbs. Ive even switched brands. No improvement. Ok...this is interesting....it only refuses to eject when the page I'm printing isn't a full page. If the page is full (with printing down to the very bottom) it will eject. Unfortunately a lot of my printing is pages that are not full pages. If I cancel the print job, and remove the non-ejected page, it starts right back up printing again....until the next 1/2 page. Very frustrating.

I'm afraid this could be a hardware issue. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
