Envelope printing

HP Recommended

My envy 7640 all in one stopped printing envelopes. Says sensor doesn't recognize paper size

The following assumes the Full Feature Software has been installed and is functional.


Load the paper / envelopes according to the instructions in the User Guide

Pay attention to flap location and rotation.

Pages 13-14



Check / Modify the paper settings on the printer display panel, in the Embedded Web Server (EWS), and in Printing Preferences.


How to check / adjust paper size / type setup




Printing envelopes in Word > Mailings > Envelopes


Preferences are not directly involved when printing envelopes from Word.

That said, make sure your preferred shortcut in Preferences is set to Everyday Printing as opposed to a booklet or photo printing shortcut selection.


When not a sensor issue,

If the envelope prints incorrectly (or not at all) in spite of correct and proper size, tray, and rotation selection,

Treat the envelope as if it is a "Custom Size" envelope.
