HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

For some reason our HP Envy 5055 has decided to operate in Duplex Manually mode ONLY. Nothing has changed except for fresh black ink cartridge. It formerly duplexed automatically. We can find no settings to get it to go back to automatic duplex. A righteous bother when working remotely. What happened? How to fix?

I turned off the printer. I then unplugged it while holding the power button down for 30 seconds or so. I plugged the unit back in. After resetting the wireless link I tried to duplex print. It still shows as MANUAL duplex printing only. I have found nothing that will turn on automatic duplexing as the specs say it will. Most disturbing.

OK, this is crazy. I tried the steps offered by RIDDLE-DECIPHER i the support questions at https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Errors-or-Lights-Stuck-Print-Jobs/GETTING-ERROR-CODE-0X00829C....

Auto-duplex is back. Wild.

Well, it did it again. I was in the middle of printing numerous reports in duplex and the printer decided to go back to being MANUAL duplex only with NO way to get it back to automatic duplexing. What gives?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help.

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Let me know if this helps.
