Hi @Kevin489

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The ER 75 error on HP printers typically relates to an issue with the ink system, but it can also be triggered by mechanical or software problems. If you've already checked for a paper jam and replaced the ink cartridges, here are some other troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

1. Turn Off and Unplug the Printer

  • Power off the printer completely using the Power button.
  • Unplug the printer from the electrical outlet.
  • Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then plug it back in and turn the printer on again.
  • This can help reset any temporary errors in the printer’s memory.

2. Check the Ink Cartridges

  • Remove the ink cartridges and reinstall them to ensure they are seated properly.
  • Check if there are any visible signs of damage on the cartridges or contact points (the metal contacts on the cartridge).
  • Clean the contacts gently with a lint-free cloth to remove any ink residue or dust.
  • If you suspect a defective cartridge, try replacing it with a new one.

3. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings

  • If the printer still shows the error, a factory reset might help clear the issue:
    • Go to Settings on your printer (if it has a touchscreen or menu).
    • Look for Restore Factory Defaults or a similar option under the Printer Maintenance section.
    • Confirm the reset, and the printer should restart.
  • Note: This will erase any custom settings on the printer, so you'll need to reconfigure it.

4. Check for Other Obstructions or Jammed Paper

  • Even though you’ve checked for paper jams, sometimes small pieces of paper or debris can be lodged in hidden areas, such as the paper feed mechanism or the cartridge area.
  • Use a flashlight and look inside the printer for any paper fragments.
  • If you find any, carefully remove them.

5. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can sometimes cause errors. Ensure your printer drivers are up to date:
    • Go to HP's official support site and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
    • You can also try uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer on your computer.
    • After reinstalling, try printing again to see if the error persists.

6. Check for Printer Firmware Updates

  • Ensure the printer’s firmware is up to date. Firmware updates can often fix bugs and improve printer functionality.
  • Go to HP's support page, search for your printer model, and check for any available firmware updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
