I am having print feeder/jamming issues on my HP OfficeJet Pro 6978.  I get the following error message:  0x61000048.  I may need a driver/firmware update, but do not know how to do that.

Try a firmware update: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

 

Let's try to reset the Printer here:

 

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Also, try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.

When I downloaded the Firmware Update and tried to install, got a message saying there were no updates for my model.  I unplugged from wall as you suggested and that worked once, but the error message keeps coming back.  Any other suggestions?

 

I feel like I have to buy a new printer every few years as they keep breaking down.  This is very frustrating!
